Impact and Citizens Involvement

The most important achievements of the project related to the priorities of the “Europe for Citizens” Programme are:

1. Participatory process conducted through:

a) preliminary bilateral meetings of representatives of local authorities, schools, CSOs in order to:
– elaborate the planned activities in accordance with the project objectives & define a common strategy for involving
local citizens, stakeholders & policy makers
– define & sign the “Charter of intent aimed at signing of the Twinning Agreement”
b) preliminary local meetings in each community, involving local authorities, local schools, CSOs and all interested citizens in order to:
– present & discuss the project activities
– create concrete inputs for joint activities planned for the Final International Event in Tuzla

2. Multigenerational range of participants involved in project activities in each local community, as well as in the Final International Event in Tuzla (from students to retirees), increasing the impact of the project on the entire local community

3. Raising awareness of the principles & values of Active European Citizenship: a large number of citizens were involved in preliminary activities in local communities and more than 270 citizens during the Final International Event in Tuzla

4. Increasing knowledge of European history and culture

5. Fighting Euroscepticism by:
– developing ideas for further joint concrete actions and projects
– learning about the policies and programs of the European Union, the Council of Europe as well as the opportunities offered

6. Promoting intercultural dialogue & mutual understanding between participants coming from a different cultural background, bearing in mind the future of Europe as well as the importance of promoting its core values

9. Exchange of examples of good practise and experience

10. Raising awareness of the need for networking.

It is important to mention the results of the meetings of the groups of representatives presented during the workshop for all stakeholders involved:
High school students and professors of the Gymnasium Mesa Selimovic & Liceo Agnoletti presented their school institutions and local communities, agreed on cooperation based on the values of brotherhood and humanity, creating a European spirit, respect for human rights, preserving memories, actualizing historical events & comparing school systems. Contacts has been established and possible joint activities will be defined soon.

Sports associations want to organize athletic events in Tuzla and Campi Bisenzio. A great impression on all participants had the presentation of football for the blind, presented by members of the Association Quartotempo. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Association of the Blind Persons of Tuzla and the President of the “Special Olympics of Bosnia and Herzegovina” who want to implement a project for training & exchange of experiences.

The meeting of representatives of associations was very positive and encouraging, and resulted in several possible common project ideas:

a. Social Artists meeting and events
b. Activities for active old ages
c. “Espace between us” (Cultural and Artistic associations’ project idea)
d. From emotions to actions (with several associations involved)
e. Social decontamination for Youth.

In the next months will be detailed these project ideas and defined the necessary needs, budget & possible funds.

The result of the visit & meeting between the Cooperative Agropromet in Tuzla & members of the Soci COOP from Campi Bisenzio:

– to organize the exchange of experiences between farmers and stockbreeders,
– to improve the quality and quantity of domestic production,
– perhaps to study different programming of agricultural production.

“Given that for some time the Municipality of Campi Bisenzio has been ideally and morally linked to the events that have seen the regions of the former Yugoslavia as protagonists, the scene of massacres and genocides among the heinous pits that modern history is, unfortunately, capable of telling;

Given that, over the years, the places of memory in particular in Bosnia have been the destination of travel for groups of children and students from the City of Campi Bisenzio and that meetings have been held between the respective institutions and associations of the territory;

Considering the success encountered in the various moments in which the communities met, given the interest they showed, certain to respond to the aspirations expressed and the emerging needs, convinced of wanting to undertake a common path to build relationships of effective collaboration in every field in which cooperation is to be deepened;

Aware that the Twinning Agreement is the most suitable institution to favor and promote the
meeting and collaboration between the two communities with the aim of mutual growth, for the
dissemination and promotion of their respective histories, traditions and cultures;

Considered therefore as the Twinning Agreement is an extraordinary instrument of intercultural action between different realities, but linked by destinies that want to be common
